ABOUT OUR FOOD

AND WHERE IT COMES FROM

Our goal is to make delicious, nourishing food, sourced from local farmers and ranchers in Pescadero, California. There are over twenty farms and ranches within a fifteen-mile radius of Pescadero and yet, it’s difficult to find food made from local ingredients. Restaurants have high overhead costs and the farmers/ranchers are able to sell their products in higher quantities at other Bay Area farmers’ markets. With a food truck, we are able to cut down on overhead costs, spend more on ingredients, and still offer our food at competitive prices. We also want to give Pescadero residents another place to eat. Sadly, we lost Pescadero Country Store to a fire in 2016 and we only have Duarte’s Tavern, Taqueria de Amigos, and Arcangeli’s Grocery to feed the thousands of people who visit our town on the weekend. We hope our presence will keep traffic circulating, lower wait times at other establishments, and improve the market in Pescadero.

“A rising tide lifts all boats.”

All of the meat and vegetables come from within fifteen miles of Pescadero and our menu is based on what’s available, seasonally, by each farmer. We highlight these farmers each week and try to buy from everyone equally, depending on what is in stock. If we can’t find an ingredient in Pescadero, we look for organic and/or California-grown ingredients. For example, our curried pumpkin soup is made with vegetables from Fifth Crow Farm, Blue House Ranch, and Brisa Ranch but, in order to make it vegan, we have to buy coconut milk from a grocery store. We want to offer something for everyone. Each week, we offer a limited menu but there is always a vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free option. This, too, is the case for our baked goods, provided by three Pescadero bakers, who do their best to source ingredients locally. Jammette Cakes makes her gluten-free, vegan blackberry tarts with berries from Pie Ranch. We want to stay away from processed foods and oils. Our meat dishes are made with local animal fat or butter. We use organic avocado oil or vegan butter for the vegan dishes. We want our customers to walk away from the truck impressed by the flavor, invigorated by healthy ingredients, and inspired to support local food producers.
